The new facility, which brings more than 250 new jobs to the area, represents a complete integration of Office Depot’s supply chain – allowing the Company to service both its North American Retail stores and Business Solutions Division customers from one building. Additionally, the combination facility features one of the largest implementations of the state-of-the-art mobile robotic picking and sorting technology from Kiva Systems.

  New feature for mobile-robotic warehouse automation system reduces capital, footprint and labor required for trash takeaway
  Woburn, MA – April 26, 2010 – Kiva Systems (www.kivasystems.com), a developer of game-changing mobile-robotic solutions that automate order fulfillment and warehouse operations, announced the availability of its new Trash and Recycling System (TRS). The Kiva TRS uses the same robots as its Mobile Fulfillment System, but adds dedicated trash bins, an automated dumper, and sophisticated control software for a complete solution that automatically takes away the trash bins and empties them directly into the facility compactor, shedder or baler. The Kiva TRS is already in use at customers such as Walgreens, and is being introduced publicly at the NA 2010 tradeshow in Cleveland, OH.

The Kiva System will be used for order fulfillment of its entire Internet retail operation. The project will go fully operational in early fall, in time to fulfill orders for the 2010 holiday season.
• Gap Inc. Direct Goes Live with Kiva’s Order Fulfillment System
  Warehouse automation system effectively handles heavy volume of holiday orders
  Woburn, MA – March 9, 2010 – Gap Inc. Direct has deployed a new Kiva system at its Columbus, Ohio fulfillment center. Kiva provides a flexible storage and software system that accommodates work stream changes. Gap Inc. Direct tested the Kiva technology in its facility this past summer. The results from the summer test proved beneficial, which led to a decision to move processing of all orders for its Piperlime brand to Kiva in early October. The smooth installation and testing process gave Gap Inc. the confidence to expand the system to handle Piperlime’s holiday orders.
• Crate and Barrel Adopts Kiva Warehouse Automation System to Increase Profitability and Reduce Carbon Footprint
  Robotic order fulfillment system delivers both energy and operational efficiency
  Woburn, MA – February 9, 2010 – Crate and Barrel has purchased a Kiva system for its Tracy, Calif. Distribution Complex (DC). The Tracy DC will fulfill direct-to-consumer orders and improve service levels in thirteen western states.
